If you used your vehicle while volunteering for a charity, you may be able to deduct the number of miles driven for charitable purposes. For example, you can deduct the miles driven to and from your house to the charitable organization if you volunteered to work for them.

You must keep a reliable, written record of the number of miles driven. Your records should include all of the following:
- The name of the organization you volunteered for.
- The date(s) you used your car for the charitable purpose.
- The number of miles you drove your car for the charitable purpose
