If you meet the eligibility requirements to deduct mortgage interest, you don’t need Form 1098 to take the deduction when filing your return through Credit Karma Tax. Lenders send Form 1098 to anyone who paid at least $600 in mortgage interest. A copy is also submitted to the IRS.

If you don’t receive one, you can still take the deduction by getting the information from a different source, including your lender or your end-of-year mortgage statement.
This is different from the Mortgage Interest Credit, which requires you to have a Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC).
