Scores can be updated on Credit Karma as often as once a week, so it’s easy to track your progress. But what if you’re not seeing the progress you’re expecting?
Your lenders may not have reported certain information yet
The information you see on Credit Karma is based on your most recent TransUnion and Equifax credit reports, so if you’ve recently made a change, like paying a credit card balance, it may not be reflected yet. Usually, lenders report any new balances, payment activity, credit limit changes and other updates every 30 days, but different lenders may update at different frequencies.
You can check when the accounts reported on your TransUnion or Equifax credit reports have been reported to those bureaus by checking the date for the credit account on Credit Karma.
On a browser:
- Go to accounts to see credit accounts reported by TransUnion and Equifax
- The last reported date is underneath the name of each credit account
On the IOS/Android app:
- Navigate to Accounts to see credit accounts reported by TransUnion and Equifax
- The last reported date is underneath the name of each credit account
Certain factors haven’t changed enough yet
Credit takes time to grow. Some key factors in your scores, like on-time payments and age of credit history, take several months or even years to establish. Good habits, such as making payments on-time and using less of your available credit, among others, can help you improve your credit health over time.
